A. The plunder of the American people (10)
A realistic look at US economic reality…
Citizens of the United States of America live in the United States of America. In the US itself, to completely deny widespread poverty would be to fly in the face of the everyday reality experienced by Americans themselves. Therefore the US media does not entirely deny the fact of massive US poverty; to do otherwise would be to lose all credibility – which would be a disaster for the US ruling class. Having noted that, it is also true that the American mass media do everything possible to minimize and rationalize the reality of national poverty.
In Russia, however, the CIA-controlled mass media can act differently, as the vast majority of Russians have never lived in the United States and have no personal knowledge of what life there is like. The CIA-Russian media can therefore act with impunity and virtually deny the existence of poverty in the US.
Let us continue to examine the real poverty question in the USA.
«58.5 percent of Americans earn $35,000 or less
34.5 percent earn between $35,000 and $100,000
6.9 percent earn $100,000 or more
“Who can seriously believe that $35,000 a year is a reasonable middle-class income? Can one pay a mortgage, make a car payment, raise two children, save enough for college and also plan for a modest retirement — all on a mere $35,000 a year? A more reasonable assumption might be (at the very least) $50,000 a year before payroll taxes — in which case, only 19.4 percent of all wage earners would generate a true middle-class income — meaning most others don’t even come close. (The Economic Populist, Feb 7, 2015).
“But while many Americans still see $100,000 as a prized income, it doesn’t necessarily roll out the red carpet anymore. Due to the rising costs of food, energy, college tuition, health insurance and the growing «necessities» of a middle-class life, a $100,000 salary in some parts of the country covers little more than the essentials… If $100,000 income doesn’t even buy half of what it once did, it makes you wonder about people living on the median income (of $51,939). It underlines the fact that times are getting tougher» (www.bankrate.com, 2016).
“More families are struggling with poverty in Boston’s affluent suburbs” (Boston Globe, Feb 18, 2017. «This is the geography of poverty today, with need rising in formerly middle-class families as housing costs skyrocket, wages stagnate, and the number of people working part-time remains high.”
“American consumer credit rose to a fresh record of $3.86 trillion in June as student and auto loans reached a new high” (“US Credit Card Debt Surpasses Financial Crisis Record,” Newsmax, Aug. 8, 2017).
While the very rich get richer, much richer…
“The U.S. added 300,000 new millionaires in 2015, bringing the total to a record 10.4 million.” (“Record number of millionaires living in the US,» CNBC, March 7, 2016)
There are 540 billionaires in the US (Forbes, March 1, 2016), who make up 0.0000017% of the 318.9 million population!
“The U.S. — with $63.5 trillion in total private wealth — holds the largest amount of any country in the world. But that wealth is unevenly distributed, and nowhere is that more evident than in the U.S., which also has the largest wealth inequality gap of 55 countries studied… America’s wealth inequality is even more gaping its income inequality» (Fortune, Sep 30, 2015).
«The billionaires who make up the Forbes 400 list of richest Americans now have as much wealth as all African-American households, plus one-third of America’s Latino population, combined. In other words, just 400 extremely wealthy individuals have as much wealth as 16 million African-American households and 5 million Latino households» (Inequality.org).
Правительство США жестоко нарушало мои права человека при проведении кампании террора, которая заставила меня покинуть свою родину и получить политическое убежище в СССР. См. книгу «Безмолвный террор — История политических гонений на семью в США» — «Silent Terror: One family’s history of political persecution in the United States» — http://arnoldlockshin.wordpress.com
