Dictatorship USA – A Plundering and Predatory Nation

B. World-wide plunder (2)

The wage differential…

Let us briefly note examples of the huge wage differentials between the US and super-exploited Third World countries:

The average wage in the US in October 2016 was $21.72 (Trading Economics). Here is a sampling of “third-world countries” brutally exploited by world imperialism:

U.S. Factory Workers Make 76 Times More Per Hour Than Workers In Indonesia” (The Higher Learning, April 9, 2015).

The Philippine average monthly wage is $279 (International Labor Organization, May 2012). With a theoretical work week of 40 hours (172 hours per month), this amounts to $1.63 an hour.

In 2012, the median monthly wage for a Black African worker in the Union of South Africa was 5445 South African rands (Business Tech, July 26, 2016). (In 2012, one South African Rand equaled about 0.122 US $.) This amounted to $664 per month or approximately $3.62 per hour. It is entirely likely – in fact, probable – that in South Africa, as in the Philippines and other many Third World countries the work week is significantly greater than 40 hours. This would decrease the calculated hourly pay.

Wages in Chile were 3,929.92 Chilean pesos per $ in October 2016 (Trading Economics). One Chilean peso is worth 0.0015 $. This amounts to wages of $5.89/hour.

Thus workers in the economic (and not only economic)! neo-colonies of imperialism work for just a fraction of what American workers earn.

These huge wage differentials allow United States corporations and banks (a) to obtain monster profits abroad and (b) to import vast quantities of raw materials and finished products to the US, which American workers and the people as a whole consume – at relatively low prices.

Computer parts and technology hardware predominantly come from Southeast Asia—places like Malaysia, Indonesia, and Taiwan known for heavy industry and large scale mass production» (neweggbusiness.com, July 2, 2015). In Indonesia, for instance, workers there make 76 times less than US factory workers!

But it is not just computers and technology!

American imports amounted to US$2.309 trillion during 2015, up 4.7% since 2011… 45.6% of America’s total imports by value in 2015 were purchased from Asian countries. Given America’s population of 318.9 million people, its total $2.309 trillion in 2015 imports translates to roughly $7,240 in yearly product demand from every person in the country…

«The following product groups represent the highest dollar value in America’s import purchases during 2015. Also shown is the percentage share each product category represents in terms of overall imports into the US.

  1. Electronic equipment: US$332.9 billion (14.4% of total US imports)
  2. Machines, engines, pumps: $329.3 billion (14.3%)
  3. Vehicles: $283.8 billion (12.3%)
  4. Oil: $201.2 billion (8.7%)
  5. Pharmaceuticals: $86.1 billion (3.7%)
  6. Medical, technical equipment: $78.3 billion (3.4%)
  7. Furniture, lighting, signs: $61.2 billion (2.6%)
  8. Gems, precious metals: $60.2 billion (2.6%)
  9. Organic chemicals: $52.1 billion (2.3%)
  10. Plastics: $50.2 billion (2.2%)” (worldstopexports.com, Dec. 25, 2016).

Total imports to the United States rose 1.3 percent month-over-month to $229.0 billion in October of 2016, reaching the highest since August last year. Imports of goods increased $2.8 billion to $186.5 billion: pharmaceutical preparations increased $0.7 billion; cell phones and other household goods went up $0.4 billion; capital goods rose $1.1 billion and computer accessories increased $0.6 billion…” (Trading Economics, Dec 6, 2016).

Americans buy gobs of foreign-made autos, cell phones, computers, TVs, toys and clothing from other countries — much more than they buy from the U.S. Aside from autos very few of those products are made in America anymore.” (MarketWatch Feb 7, 2017)

Cheaper imported goods – produced with ultra-cheap labor – directly contribute to the relatively higher US standard of living. American poverty would be far greater without quasi-slave labor-produced goods brought in from abroad.

The fundamental economic motivations of US and world imperialism are aimed at imposing low wages on other countries to greatly enlarge profits while appropriating the wealth and products of these countries at low prices.

Правительство США жестоко нарушало мои права человека при проведении кампании террора, которая заставила меня покинуть свою родину и получить политическое убежище в СССР. См. книгу «Безмолвный террор — История политических гонений на семью в США» — «Silent Terror: One family’s history of political persecution in the United States» — http://arnoldlockshin.wordpress.com
